Bradley Hughes advocates this type of down swing. This also allows these types of players to pin the shaft to the strike at impact just like you see here with Peete & Hogan. Many of the best ball strikers started their back swings inside, and then the hands would came over & the shaft would Shallow out on the way down, ala Ben Hogan, Calvin Peete, George Knudson, Sam Snead, yet these swing models are considered incorrect in today's teaching methods.

thanks Christo. I have followed you since before the Hogan movie and always improved my game by watching your videos. But this is the golden key for me, clearly stated and demonstrated by you. I have been evolving towards this swing thought but did not know exactly what I was doing to get better results. I was trying to stay back on my swing without really knowing why I was getting better. Now that I know the weight shift should be targeted at the spot and not just the club head, I can't wait to get out there and hit some. Like you stated I was attacking the ball with my arms. Thanks for your insights, it has been a great experience following your evolution and utilizing the experiences to improve my game.

Curtis Strange, wow! Played the by NICKLAUS VIP Irons by MacGregor back in the day. I had a set of those once. Had a better than average short game, IMHO. Saw him and his brother play at Pebble Beach. Identical twins! Honestly, I could not tell them apart. Your swing still looks pretty good to me. Congrats!

I can feel the accent when I take a practice swing without hitting the ground. But when I actually hit the ball, I don't always feel or generate the accent. Would appreciate any advice on consistently generating that. Thank you.

Trace his clubface..not the butt of his club. He takes his club deep (butt/gripwise) on his backswing. In the downnswing..he moves his grip forward he have better space to swing thru. But his club plane is actually shallowed..the club face never comes over the top. Over the top is when your clubface stands up and cut across the plane. To describe this as OTT is bad abd confusing to the many already confused golfers out there. Look at the swing path of the clubhead.

The 8 iron is at 35 degrees, that might play a big part in the distance increase. there’s this obsession in the game currently about how “I hit my eight iron 200 yards” but the eight iron of today is the six iron of 20 years ago so the number on the club is pretty much irrelevant at this point. The ben hogan power thrusts i play occasionally 8 iron loft is 44 degrees to put it in perspective.

I think you have now become a Hip Golfer Hi Christo I think you are doing similar as myself by making the hips the central power house of your swing. This is as Ben Hogan has always recommended and shown in his own swings. I too place my arms diagonally across my chest and am now standing closer to my ball. And like you I now open up my trail hip for my backswing and then open up my lead hip for my downswing which immediately pulls my handle across my body to the finish of my swing. And because my lead hip has finished my swing as I stand up I drop my hands down towards my lead hip just as I see you doing now each and every time. Cheers. Can I give constructive feedback as a fan of your swing/teaching? Please try to show more camera angles of your swing DTL here and instagram where the camera is more in line with your hands at address, not the ball. Showing DTL from the hand line gives much more accurate visuals of what your hand path and body alignments are doing. This suggestion is coming from a fan and one who is eager to study your swing more in depth and apply to my game. Thanks!

Hey Christo, just to let you know about a quote from Seve about Sandy Lyle and this was from a period of time when the Europeans were winning at the masters, the likes of Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam etc, Seve 2:04 wedge, Sandy from the Championship tee which was a further 70 yards back hits driver then nine iron to the green, and that would be early metal wood days and not the clubs and balls we hit these days.
